Regina Catherine Zawada, 93, of North Versailles, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at her home on June 27, 2022.

Regina was born on November 22, 1928 in Jeannette, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Karol and Marcyanna (Lipski) Zlotkowski who were immigrants from Poland. Regina grew up during the Great Depression and she helped support her family by working at the local five and dime store.

Regina was a loving wife and mother whose family and faith were the center of her life. She and her husband Jerry proudly saw their children through a proper Catholic upbringing and schooling and made sure all enjoyed the benefits of a college education. Regina was a devote parishioner at St. Robert Bellarmine (Mary, Mother of God) Parish for 55 years.

In addition to caring for her husband, children and home, Regina was a constant provider for her family. To this end she took on a variety of work, from being an executive secretary for the Westinghouse Corporation and a tool and die machine operator for the Ringsdorf Corporation, to being a census taker and an eBay entrepreneur. Outside of work, Regina enjoyed her role as a cub scout den mother, partaking in sewing, gardening and baking, doing crossword puzzles and reading and tending bees. She also enjoyed collecting Westmoreland glass.

And throughout her life, Regina was a supporter of the Polish Roman Catholic Union of America and the Polish National Alliance. She took a special interest in the PNA dance group in Wilmerding, sewing many of their folk costumes. Regina celebrated her Polish heritage and made sure its important traditions were passed on to the next generation.

Regina is survived by her husband Zdzislaw (Jerry) and her children Maryann (Jan W.) Zawada Ciaston of Fulshear, Texas, Edward (Blanca) Zawada of Livermore, California, Steven Zawada of North Versailles and Fredrick Zawada of Livermore. Regina is also survived by six grandchildren: Nicole, Jonathan and Julianna Zawada, Augustine Ciaston, Gabrielle (Michael) Ciaston Ostrowski, Grace Ciaston, and her sister Ceilia Miscovitch, as well as by many nieces and nephews.

Regina was preceded in death by her parents and brother Stanley and by her six sisters: Elizabeth Harney, Sabina, Frances, and Felicia Zlotkowski, Anna Menart and Bertha Grabowski.
